Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to honor Author and the CEO & Chief Specialist of My HR Specialist Inc. Carmen Torres as a Latina of Influence. Ms. Torres will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Connecting Latinas of Influence | Los Angeles, to be held on October 10, 2024.
Carmen Torres is an Author and the CEO & Chief Specialist of My HR Specialist Inc., a firm specializing in business and employment consulting and hands-on/on-call services for business owners and non-profits. She serves as a reliable advisor to brokers, business owners, executive leadership, and managers & supervisors providing ongoing counseling and guidance on their company policies and personnel matters. My HR Specialist supports employers in all phases of employment needs when they’re confronted by State and Federal administrative agencies, such as the Labor Commissioner, the Civil Rights Department, the Department of Labor, the EDD, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Carmen also conducts workplace investigations, internal audits, and provides training to individuals and groups in the areas of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee classifications, and wage and hour compliance. Her company specializes in developing policies and procedures such as handbooks and termination processes ensuring that your business is compliant minimizing the risk of employment liability.
Her experience covers virtually every industry, including non-profits and businesses ranging from small, family-run, to nationwide organizations in services, restaurants, construction, and health industries to name a few.
She speaks on several topics such as Employment Laws, The Importance of an Employee Handbook, Employee vs Independent Contractor, Interns; To Pay or Not to Pay, Communication and Conflict Resolution. Recently, she’s been invited to speak on various panels and in March was recognized as an Outstanding Woman of City Club Los Angeles in recognition of her commitment to helping others and making a difference in the community.
She spends her free time volunteering and serving on various committees including the following: City Club Los Angeles Ambassador/Membership Committee/past Chair of the Breakfast Club, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Member & Ambassador, Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce Member, past VP of Programs for NAWBO-LA, and past VP of Programming for NLBWA-LA. Carmen’s first book, The Smart HR Solution, was recently published and available on Amazon.
