Leaving Santa Monica we headed South to Balboa Island located in Orange County and visited with the owners of Picante Martin’s a mexican restaurant. We began our visit which took place in front of the restaurant by speaking Martin Jr. and his mother Raquel who shared the history of the establishment.

Our conversation continued with Martin sharing his thoughts about the life changing experience of losing his father and what it meant to keep the restaurant going.

As the only Mexican restaurant on the Island, we asked Martin about the eateries’ unique decor.
