2018 Latina of Influence | Hilda Sandoval Ph.D, LMFT
Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to recognize Community Educator Hilda Sandoval Ph.D, LMFT as a 2018 Latina of Influence. Dr. Sandoval along with our entire list of 2018 Latinas of Influence are invited to participate in Hispanic Lifestyle’s 2018 Latina Conference taking place April 4 and 5, 2018 in Ontario, California.
Hilda Sandoval is a creator, writer and producer of some of the most successful public health campaigns focused on HIV prevention. Along with Natalie Sanchez she co-created and co-wrote the award-winning telenovela web-series “Sin Vergüenza” addressing HIV in the Latino community and minority communities overall. The series and public health campaigns have garnered critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including Imagen Award nominations in 2012 for Season 1, 2016 for Season 2 and won the Imagen Award for Best Online Series: Informative or Reality for its first season.
With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Sandoval holds a Doctorate in Psychology and Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a first generation Mexican-American who grew up in the Boyle Heights area, she witnessed firsthand the social and economic disparities that exist in communities of color. This prompted her interest in serving those who are underserved and underrepresented. She now uses her platform to raise awareness on issues that continue to negatively impact the community, helping to raise social consciousness, bridge cultural gaps and ignite social change by promoting health and health equity.
