Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to honor Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Cancer Tamer Foundation Dr. Charley Ferrer as a Latina of Influence. Dr. Ferrer will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Connecting Latinas of Influence | Florida, to be held on October 23, 2024.
Dr. Charley Ferrer is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Cancer Tamer Foundation, an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women with breast cancer. Cancer Tamer provides workshops, 1-on-1 Integrative Health Coaching, and life-enriching activities for women and men with cancer. Dr. Charley hosts a television talk show. She is a Certified Radical Remission Integrative Health Coach, a Certified Hypnotherapist; and Certified End-of-Life preparation coach.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Dr. Charley witnessed and personally experienced the apathy and misogyny associated with this disease. Convinced there had to be a better way to deal with breast cancer, she established Cancer Tamer Foundation, based on the philosophy that “you should not be at war with your body.” She is the producer and playwright of the award-winning Off Broadway Sensation Breast Cancer Diaries, a dramedy which shares the true stories of women & men diagnosed with this disease; showcasing their fears, challenges, and triumph. We are proud to announce that Breast Cancer Diaries – The Play recently won First Place in the Regional competition for Dramatic Writing and won Second Place in the National Veteran’s Creative Arts Festival for Short Script. Dr. Charley has also produced several documentaries on breast cancer and hosts a television show on living and thriving despite cancer. She is an avid speaker on women’s sensual health and breast cancer advocate.
For 2024, Dr. Charley is hosting the Breast Cancer Mermaid™ Project Exhibition which is seeking artists in any medium to provide their version of what a Mermaid with breast cancer would look like. Would she have one shell, two, none? Would she still have her lustrous hair? Would her tail be a little shabby? The Breast Cancer Mermaid™ is a reminder to women (and others) that a woman doesn’t stop being her unique sensual, alluring self merely because she has breast cancer. For the past 23-years, Dr. Charley Ferrer has lectured through the US, Latin America and China on sexual health, self-empowerment, and breast cancer awareness & prevention. She is a world-renowned Clinical Sexologist and award-winning author and playwright. She is a pioneer in the field of human sexuality, self-empowerment, and breast cancer advocacy.
Nomination Statement
Dr. Charley has had an incredible life filled with many adventures that have transformed her into a fighter for life. Absolutely nothing stops her. She finds a way around any challenge and often just takes it head on. She is a fast learner and finds ways to accomplish feats that many would give up on.
Dr. Charley’s breast cancer work is phenomenal and worthy of wide recognition. Her take on cancer is amazing and has helped many women and men to change their views of this challenge into a worthy battle.
