Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to honor Deputy Press Secretary and Latino Communications Advisor at City Hall under the leadership of New York City Mayor Eric Adams Ivette Davila-Richards as a Latina of Influence. Davila-Richards will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Connecting Latinas of Influence | Bronx, New York to be held on September 24, 2024.
Ivette Davila-Richards serves as the Deputy Press Secretary and Latino Communications Advisor at City Hall under the leadership of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. In this role, Davila-Richards also manages the communications strategy for up to 25 agencies and entities that fall under the purview of several Deputy Mayors. She serves as a Spanish translator for the administration and handles logistical and event planning for major announcements and meetings with international, and foreign dignitaries to build strong global relationships and best practices for New York City.
Davila-Richards previously served as a national assignment editor at Fox News Channel and as an associate producer at CBS News, where she produced content for CBS This Morning Saturday, Sunday Morning, and 48 Hours. Davila-Richards held roles as secretary-treasurer of the National Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), was the vice chair of SPJ’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee; and is on the Deadline Club NY Chapter Executive Council of SPJ. She held leadership roles at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists where she advocated for journalism and diversity in newsrooms.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Davila-Richards attended CUNY’s Bernard Baruch College, where she received her B.A. in Corporate Communications. She has a passion for international travel and credits her mother, Adelaida Richards, for instilling in her the building of community among friends and ensuring that those whose voices are not heard have someone who speaks up for them and advises them on best practices.
