How ACS Group Survived & Thrived
During the downturn in the economy, what was different to ACS Group is that they used this time to increase their capabilities by becoming certified. They Increased their skill sets, and most importantly they Diversified Our Services. In doing so they were able to create other revenue streams and increase our bonding capabilities.
In this time we also recognized it was our responsibility to teach and mentor other small businesses that could benefit from our knowledge and resources. Today their company now has the bonding capabilities of $20,000,000 and has an annual revenue of 6,000,000, to 10,000,000.
About their Founders
Darrel Sauceda was born and raised in the lush farm land region of Imperial Valley, in the City of El Centro, California. He grew up knowing first- hand the hard working farm ethic of the Imperial Valley. This work ethic has been carried with Darrel his entire professional career. He is now the CEO and Owner of Associated Construction Services (ACS Group), with annual sales of over $6,000,000. As CEO and Owner, Darrel orchestrates the day-to-day construction business operations including marketing and business development, continually expanding and growing the company as a forward thinking entrepreneur.
His area of expertise is in design build construction projects. He has vast experience in value engineering of project design, construction management, contract negotiations, control and reduction of project costs and business development.
Darrel has propelled a Hispanic Owned Construction Business from a small interior remodeling contractor to a multimillion dollar government and commercial Construction Company. Listed in the Hispanic Business Magazine three years in a row as a top 500 growing Hispanic Businesses nationwide, he has been able to continue to build ACS Group even in the midst of hard economic down times. Hard work, never- stopping determination and relationship building is Darrel’s underlying attitude for a successful business plan. His successful business operations landed ACS Group with an 8(a) Certification through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) rigorous application process.
Darrel focuses one of his business development efforts in the government sector. He works closely with Federal, State and Local Municipalities and Agencies to foster business growth. Working with various agencies such as US Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, The National Guard, Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California, City of Whittier, California and City of Monterey Park, California, Darrel has the experience working on various federally and state funded projects and understands agency needs and what is required “to get the job done”. He completed the construction management of the $9,000,000, 5 mile Greenway Pedestrian & Bike Trail Project running through the City of Whittier, California.
Another of his business development areas is in the private commercial sector. His determination managed ACS Group to receive “approved contractor” status through a challenging application processes from Bovis-Land lease and Wal-Mart. He is the first contractor to build the first “ground-up” 14,000 square foot 99 Cent Only Store, in his home town of El Centro, California. He also works closely with US Health works (Private Occupational Health Care Provider) providing various design build and tenant improvements projects. Whether retail construction or private construction, Darrel’s talent to understand client’s needs and deliver a complete product on time and on budget is one of the reasons why clients call on him.
Darrel is SBA 8(a) & 7(a) Certified. He holds a Public Utility Certification that has afforded the company A Gas Company Weatherization Contract valued at over $10,000,000 in contracts. He is also California Small Business Certified with MWD approved, Los Angeles County Small Business Certified, Los Angeles Unified School District Certified, and Wood Working Institute of California Certified. He holds a California State Contractors B1 License #667206 and a C61 and a B12 license.
As President of Associated Construction Services Group Anna Sauceda has always known owning a successful small business comes with an enormous amount of responsibility to others. She and her husband, Darrel have propelled their small residential construction company to a multimillion dollar government and commercial construction company.
