Brenda Victoria Castillo, President and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition and 2019 Hispanic Lifestyle of Influence honoree comments on 2025 Golden Globe Nominations.
The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) applauds the 2025 Golden Globe nominations for their diversity, particularly among Latine talent. We would like to especially congratulate our 2024 NHMC Impact Award honorees who have been nominated for a Golden Globe including Alien: Romulus (Cinematic and Box Office Achievement) and True Detective: Night Country (Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television).
Today’s nominations reflect the diversity of the Latine community, showcasing talent as directors, screenwriters, and actors portraying a wide range of roles—from chefs and detectives to founders of rehabilitation programs and talent managers. This year’s nominees are a vibrant group, signaling a promising awards season with well-deserved recognition for Latines and communities of color.
We would like to congratulate the creatives behind Emilia Pérez for their historic 10 nominations, making it the most nominated comedy or musical film in the awards show’s history, including Best Motion Picture! Congratulations to the Latinas nominated in the film, including Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture). A special congratulations to Karla Sofía Gascón (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy) for becoming the first out transgender woman to be nominated in a film category!
Congratulations to Coleman Domingo for his role as “Divine G” Whitfield in Sing Sing (Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama), Liza Colón-Zayas for her role as Tina Marrero in The Bear(Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role On Television), Kali Reis for her role as Evangeline Navarro in True Detective: Night Country (Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role On Television), and Diego Luna for his role as Andy in La Máquina (Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role On Television).
Latine voices, talent, and stories have enriched global culture, influencing acting, directing, producing, and writing. Our community’s impact is felt both in front of and behind the camera, with Latine creatives shaping narratives that resonate worldwide. As an audience, Latines account for 29% of daily mobile TV viewers and 24% of streaming subscribers, and it’s time our contributions to the entertainment industry are properly acknowledged.
