2019 Survived and Thrived Business | Miguel’s Restaurant
Hispanic Lifestyle is pleased to recognize Miguel’s Restaurants as a 2019 Survived and Thrived Business. Miguel’s Restaurants was recognized along with their fellow honorees at BizCon 2019 during our lunchtime program on June 12, 2019 at the Ontario Airport Hotel and Conference Center, Ontario California.
The legend began in 1973 when Mike and Mary Vasquez took over an existing restaurant in Corona, CA and renamed it “Miguel’s” in honor of Mike’s grandfather. They struggled to make a go of it. Mike kept his day job and worked the restaurant at night while Mary developed dishes and recipes. Over the next 2 years, business improved to the point that they decided to lease a fast food restaurant just 2 miles down the road and named it “Miguel’s Jr”. This became an instant favorite with locals and travelers along interstate 91 between Orange County and the Inland Empire.
In 1997, Mike and Mary relocated the original Miguel’s Restaurant a few blocks over to its current location in the city of Corona. The new restaurant opened on October 11, 2000. Orange County got its first taste of a Corona legend in the summer of 2004 with the opening of Miguel’s in Foothill Ranch. In September of 2008 the newest Miguel’s Restaurant opened lakeside at the Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona, California. Miguel’s; it’s different and unique, yet still embraces the traditional. A perfect place for families and for celebrating. What makes us unique is our passion for fresh food from family recipes inspired by Mary’s childhood in Central Mexico and our friendly people. It is our promise to deliver the freshest, best tasting California Mexican food each and every day.
Today there are 3 full service Miguel’s Restaurants and 15 Miguel’s Jr. fast food restaurants throughout the Inland Empire and Orange County. We invite you to come in and try our homestyle Mexican food and leave a fan!
