5th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Gala – Hispanic 100 Foundation
Event will take place on September 26, 2014 at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach starting at 6 p.m.
Advocacy and education are the driving forces that inspire the Hispanic 100 Foundation. This year, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Foundation will honor an individual that embodies these same principles. The 5th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Gala will honor actor, director and humanitarian, Edward James Olmos, for his work in the areas of entertainment and philanthropy. Also that night, former Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, will deliver a keynote address and present scholarships to ten deserving mentees, part of the Foundation’s Class of 2014 Mentor Program. The Gala event takes place Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach starting at 6 p.m.
“On behalf of the Foundation, we are proud to honor Edward James Olmos for his integrity to his craft and belief in giving back,” stated Tina Aldatz and Julio Gudiño, co- chairs of this year’s Gala and Board members of the Hispanic 100. “We also recognize the hard work all our Mentor Program participants have undertaken this year. This program is unlike any that looks to educate our future leaders by providing them access to today’s business, political and non-profit leaders, guiding them down the road of success.”
The Mentor Program, in its second year, prepares today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders by establishing relationships between young Hispanic students and influential Hispanic leaders in a variety of industries including business, politics and non-profits. To date, the program has worked with 42 students, and many of those enrolled the first year have returned to serve as Peer Mentees. This year, the Foundation will award ten scholarships for outstanding mentees during the Foundation’s 5th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Gala. The scholarships are awarded according to a point system.
This year marks the 5th Anniversary of the Lifetime Achievement Award Gala, the biggest fundraising event of the year, with proceeds benefitting the Foundation’s Mentor Program. The evening program’s Master of Ceremonies is veteran actor Jacob Vargas, most recently seen in the box office hit, “Heaven Is For Real” and “Cesar Chavez”, as well as in FOX’s “Sons of Anarchy”. Presenting the award to Mr. Olmos is actor, Emilio Rivera, who can be seen in the FOX series, “Gang Related” and “Sons of Anarchy” and recently in the independent film, “Water & Power”. Providing entertainment during the evening of the 26th is two-time GRAMMY Award winning, Mariachi Divas. The Annual Lifetime Achievement Award has recognized several Hispanic leaders in the business and entertainment world including: actor Esai Morales; former CEO and Chairman of the Board of ImpreMedia, Monica Lozano; singer, Vicky Carr; and actor, Tony Plana.
The Gala and the Mentor Program would not be possible if not for the generous sponsors that to date include: Allstate Insurance – premier sponsors; AT&T; Coca-Cola; Concordia University; Disney; Greenberg Gross LLP; Union Bank; University of California, Irvine; and Walmart.
The event is currently sold out; however, for more information on sponsorship opportunities for the Foundation, please visit www.hispanic100.org or contact Michelle Rose at michelle@hispanic100.org.
