Latina of Influence | Ericka Nunez Paddock

Ericka Nunez Paddock is a 2015 Latina of Influence named by Hispanic Lifestyle. Ericka is being recognized for her ability to inspire others to succeed, professional accomplishments in the education community.  Hispanic Lifestyle’s 2015 Latinas of Influence will be recognizing Ericka and her fellow Latinas of Influence during a luncheon held in their honor on at Latina Conference 2015.

Ericka Nunez Paddock was born and raised in San Diego, California . Often labeled as “inspirational”, Ericka attributes her ability to motivate others to the skills she has gained from being physically disabled since birth. Over the course of her career, Ms. Paddock has received numerous awards for her work promoting community service and higher education among 18-25 year olds.

At last count, more than 300 of her students had championed service projects benefiting causes such as the CHC COACH Project, Mary’s Mercy Center, AIDS Education, pancreatic cancer research, and the homeless community. An alumni of Cal State, San Bernardino, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications and a Master Degree in Management from the University of Redlands. Paddock is currently pursuing her Educational Doctorate (Ed.D) in Leadership in Educational Justice from the University of Redlands.

Director, Department of Student Life Crafton Hills College

• Develop and implement a well rounded student activities/student life program
• Increased student government participation from 4 students annually to over 20 students annually
• Instruct a variety of workshops and courses related to student development including Leadership, Time Management, and topics relevant student clubs/organizations
• Establish long term relationships for Student Life with on campus programs such as EOPS, Dean of Arts and Sciences, Counseling, Transfer Center, and the CHC Foundation
• Work with a variety of student groups and departments such as Inter-Club Council, Alpha Gamma Sigma, the Campus Police, Obsidian Dance Crew, and other student organizations to create new student activities
• Cultivate relationships with off campus entities such as Omnitrans, the University of Redlands, American Association of University Women (AAUW) Redlands Chapter, GRID Alternatives, and Sherman Indian High School, and the Educational Resource Development Trust (ERDT) High School Exchange Program
• Create the curriculum and criteria for the annual CHC Senior Day Tour Guides.
• Develop a curriculum and criteria for student representatives at the annual “Friends of CHC” Luncheon
• Serve on various campus / districtwide committees such as the campus Commencement committee, the Sexual Assault Response Team, The Three Peaks Challenge committee, District
• Assembly, the Gala committee, and the Scholarship committee
• Advise and instruct the Crafton Hills College Student Senate
• Manage departmental budgets
• Oversee quarterly retreats and training programs designed to further professional development of student personnel
• Coordinate special events for the campus such as the annual Student Recognition Dinner
• Coordinate the annual Commencement Ceremony and all associated events including the Graduation Breakfast, Graduate Check-in, Student Speaker Auditions, and more.

• Develop and implement a challenging new curriculum, mission statement, marketing strategy, and name for what is now known as the Leadership Academy
  Increase program participation from 10 to over 150 students
• Instruct a variety of workshops and courses related to student development including Leadership, Peer Health Education, and topics relevant student clubs/organizations
• Establish long term relationships for the Academy with on campus programs such as EOP, PALS, CUP, Army ROTC, Residential Life, and University Honors
• Work with a variety of student groups and departments such as Lambda Theta Alpha Latina Sorority, the Womens’ Resource Center, the Cross Cultural Center, the Adult Re-Entry Center, Associated Students, Incorporated, and Greek organizations to create new student activities
• Cultivate relationships with off campus entities such as Inland Radio Network, the Press Enterprise, WILD 96.1 FM, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, Trinity Youth Services, and the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House
• Create the curriculum and criteria for CSUSB Peer Health Educators
• Develop a curriculum and criteria for the Health and Wellness Institute
• Serve on various campus committees such as the campus AIDS committee, the campus Strategic Planning Initiative, Alcohol Education Committee, and University Picnic Committee
  Advise and instruct the Student Union Program Board
• Manage the Student Union Program Board budget
• Implement quarterly retreats and training programs designed to further professional development of student personnel Coordinate campus activities for up to 1000 people.
