Mexican-American actress, producer, and writer, returns to the big screen in the film “Say a Little Prayer

Hispanic Lifestyle caught up with actress Vannessa Vasquez on the red carpet at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Celebrating Latino Excellence: 25th Anniversary End of the Year Celebration event. Her latest project, Say a Little Prayer , premiered in November 2024. Vannessa shared her thoughts on her role in the movie, written by Nancy De Los Santos-Reza and produced by Cristina Nava, among other prominent figures in the Latino community.

The premise of the Say a Little Prayer – Three girlfriends from San Antonio, TX recite an ancient prayer to find lost husbands, unleashing chaos on their relationships. Starring Luis Fonsi, Vannessa Vasquez , Jackie Cruz, Vivian Lamoli, Angelica Maria, Chris Kattan, Tatanka Means.

Vannessa Vasquez, a Mexican-American actress, producer, and writer, made her theatrical comeback in the film “Say a Little Prayer”.

Born in Galveston, Texas, Vannessa pursued her passion for acting after graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Psychology and Theatre. She then received a full scholarship to study acting at the prestigious Stella Adler Acting Conservatory in Los Angeles.

Vannessa gained recognition for her lead role in Hulu’s hit original teen drama series “East Los High,” for which she received an Emmy nomination in 2015 for her portrayal of ‘Camila’. She has also been recognized with an Imagen Award nomination for her performance as ‘Magdelena Cruz’ in the feature film “Sins of a Call Girl”.

In addition to her acting credits, Vannessa has showcased her talents as a writer and producer. She made her feature film debut as a writer, producer, and lead actress in “Sorrow” (2014), which was later released on Hulu. In 2016, she further demonstrated her versatility by writing, producing, and starring in the short film “La Sangre Llama” (Blood Calls), which was inspired by her personal experiences and premiered at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.

In the final seasons of “East Los High,” Vannessa took on the role of producer, contributing to the series’ success and helping it reach new heights.
