Evelia Carmona | 2023 Latina of Influence
We are pleased to announce that Evelia Carmona Senior Manager at Southern California Edison, Certified Fitness Instructor and Transformational Leader, has been selected as a Hispanic Lifestyle 2023 Latina of Influence. Ms. Carmona will be recognized for her leadership in our community during Hispanic Lifestyle’s Connecting Latinas of Influence – Los Angeles event on September 14, 2023.
Evelia Carmona has over 25 years of experience in the areas of leadership, strategic initiatives implementation, energy regulatory compliance, quality assurance, project management, finance, and quantitative analytics. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, an MBA in Finance, a Project Management Certificate from UC Irvine, as well as Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belts.
Evelia believes in empowering, developing, and mentoring the next generation on Latinx leaders. She is a leader at Southern California Edison (SCE). She is a Senior Manager for the Transmission & Distribution Performance & Strategy team. She is also, the Vice President for the Latino for Engagement Advancement and Development (LEAD) business resource groups.
In her spare time, she teaches fitness classes and provides life coaching on how to live a healthy fit lifestyle. In her volunteer work, Evelia mentors teen moms to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Evelia was featured in Southern California Edison Career page. Link here.
Evelia is first generation Mexican-American and first in her family to graduate from college. She became a mother of 2 by the time she was 18. As a young single teen mom, she overcame significant challenges to achieve her dream of completing a college degree, while working full time and taking care of her young children. She was determined to be a success story and completed her bachelor’s degree at the age of 22 and her MBA by the time she was 30.
Today, she is a mother of a 29 year old son, who is serving in the US Airforce, a 27 year old daughter who graduated with an Engineering degree, and a 14 year old daughter who is passionate about music and is a member of her high school band.
Ms. Carmona came to Hispanic Lifestyle’s attention through the Mexican American Bar Foundation.
