After more than 25 years of leadership experience in the utility industry, Yvette M. Seymour, Ed.D., is proud to announce the launch of YMS Consulting, Inc., a firm dedicated to helping utilities and infrastructure companies deliver on their strategic, operational, and organizational goals.
Dr. Seymour brings extensive expertise in project and program management, construction management, strategic planning, and organizational change leadership. She has successfully managed multi-million-dollar capital portfolios, led enterprise-wide change initiatives, and built strong cross-functional collaborations that drive results. Her leadership experience spans key areas such as Transmission, Distribution, Substations, IT, Grid Systems, and Security.

As a Latina business owner, she is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of her work and serving as an example for future leaders.
YMS Consulting, Inc. will focus on providing professional services in program and project management, business development, organizational change management, and supplier diversity strategies.
The firm will leverage Seymour’s deep industry knowledge, proven leadership, and passion for collaboration to support clients across the utility and infrastructure sectors.

👩💻 Did You Know? Latinas make up only 3% of the computing workforce. In Silicon Valley, Latinas earn a median income of $34,400 compared to $102,000 for white men. Salaries for Latinas in tech range from $43K–$150K.
We kicked off our visit to the Latinas in Tech Summit in time to reconnect with Dr. Betty Uribe, a 2016 Hispanic Lifestyle Latina of Influence, and attend her dynamic presentation, “A New Paradigm: Taking Performance to a New Level.” Her insights were both practical and empowering setting the tone for a day filled with inspiration and purpose.
The summit featured a range of engaging panel discussions, a well attended trade show with corporate recruiters, and countless opportunities to network with like-minded professionals. Representing Hispanic Lifestyle, we had the opportunity to interview key members of the Latinas in Tech (LiT) board Rachel ten Brink, Rose Hartwig, and Miguel Alemañy as well as several attendees eager to share their personal journeys and dedication to uplifting the Latino community.
My personal goal in attending was clear, to connect with new voices willing to share their inspiring stories with our audience and expand our network of changemakers.
Helen Hernandez Honored at 40th Annual Imagen Foundation Awards
At the 40th Annual Imagen Foundation Awards, President and Founder Helen Hernandez was celebrated for four decades of visionary leadership and dedication to the organization she built. Her milestone was recognized by an extraordinary group of leaders and icons: Academy Award-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, award-winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega, legendary labor leader Dolores Huerta, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis. Together, they honored Hernandez for her lasting contributions to advancing Latino representation in entertainment and beyond.

Helen Hernandez President and founder of the Imagen Foundation, Hernandez has championed accurate and positive portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry for over 40 years. A former labor organizer and accomplished advocate, she co-founded the Imagen Foundation in 1985 with legendary television producer Norman Lear. The foundation’s signature event, the annual Imagen Awards, is often referred to as the “Latino Golden Globes.”
Hilda Solis Currently serving as Supervisor for Los Angeles County’s 1st District, Solis previously made history as the 25th U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Barack Obama, becoming the first Latina to hold a cabinet-level position in the U.S.
Dolores Huerta An iconic labor leader and civil rights activist, Huerta co-founded the National Farm Workers Association (later the United Farm Workers) with César Chávez in 1962. Known for coining the rallying cry “¡Sí, se puede!” (Yes, we can!), she has spent her life advocating for farmworkers, women, and marginalized communities. In 2012, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Edward James Olmos A celebrated Mexican-American actor, director, and activist, Olmos has been a trailblazer for Latino representation in film and television. His influential roles have made him one of the most respected figures in Hollywood.
Kenny Ortega A director, choreographer, and producer whose career spans over five decades, Ortega is known for beloved works such as High School Musical, Hocus Pocus, and Michael Jackson’s This Is It. His artistry has shaped both film and live entertainment, from the Olympics to Super Bowl halftime shows. He was honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and the Disney Legends Award in 2020.
